Step By Step Future-Proofs Its IT System Through knk Software LP,
Allowing More Time to Focus on Their Mission

Step By Step, Inc., a non-profit organization providing support services to those with intellectual disabilities, mental health, and autism spectrum disorders, has reimplemented its ERP system through knk Software LP with an upgrade of their legacy system, Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2.0, to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central SaaS 20.5. “The move was a necessary measure for us to take,” says Susie O’Donnell, Vice President of Finance at Step By Step. “The upgrade allows us more time to focus on our mission, and not be directly involved with IT, database maintenance and database upgrades.”

Microsoft Dynamics Business Central is an enterprise resource management—or ERP—program that helps businesses manage the operations that keep it running on a day-to-day basis. Step By Step is using this software for its Finance operations that includes general ledger, accounts payable, and fixed assets functions.

Susie O’Donnell is pleased with the effortless transition: “It was essential to have our system modernized so that our server is always supported, and upgrades are automated.” The previous production environment was past its expiration date and was no longer supported or maintained. “Thanks to the hard work and careful diligence of the knk team, we no longer have to deal with manual upgrades and an old server. We now have added security and a level of different efficiencies that we did not previously have access to before,” says Susie.

The new system automatically upgrades every month, and major releases are upgraded in the spring and fall. Server patches, maintenance, and replacement, as well as database maintenance and upgrades are now all automated. And, since their “go live”, Step By Step has already been upgraded to the next version.

Sebastian Mayeres, CEO of knk Software, adds, “We are pleased to have been able to work with Step By Step to automate and future-proof their systems, allowing them to keep pace as technology advances and give them back valuable time to focus on important goals of their business. knk solutions are based on the latest Microsoft technology, guaranteeing that it is always up to date and constantly being further developed.”
