Successful knkMedia Upgrade at Karnov Group | Norstedts Juridik AB

Leap Across Twelve Releases in Just Six Months

The legal publishing house Karnov Group | Norstedts Juridik AB, based in Stockholm, has successfully upgraded to the latest version knkMedia 2024 R2 (Dynamics 365 Business Central Version 25/BC 25) after a project duration of just six months. The new solution supports Karnov primarily in the areas of editorial and production workflows, including content-based project management and integrated milestone planning.

Strategic Commitment to Microsoft Technology

“The upgrade to knkMedia was a strategic decision to continue reliance on Microsoft technology,” says Peter Mostgaard, Director of IT & Business Service Operations at Karnov Group. “Given the rapid technological progress in recent years, we plan to implement annual upgrades going forward and will continue to operate the system as a managed cloud service – to protect our investment and relieve our internal IT teams.”

Technological Leap and Modern Interfaces

As part of the upgrade, the self-hosted version knkPublishing 2019 R1 running in Karnov’s private cloud was migrated to knkMedia 2024 R2. Interfaces were also modernized: existing FTP connections were replaced with modern Azure Blob Storage containers in close coordination with Karnov’s IT team.

Positive Feedback from the Project Team

Susanne Kummer, Service Manager in knk’s Customer Success team, has been supporting Karnov for several years: “I was once again closely involved with the project team and end users throughout the upgrade project. It’s especially rewarding to see how well the technological and functional improvements in the new knkMedia version have been received – particularly enhancements in project setup, title reporting, and milestone planning.”

Larena Petervari, Software Developer in the knk Customer Success team, adds: “Through my support work, I was already in contact with Karnov before the project began. The close and continuous collaboration during the migration and go-live was invaluable – and a great foundation for our future cooperation.”

Managed Cloud Service for Tailored Requirements

Going forward, the knk Customer Success team will continue to provide operational support for the system – including interface monitoring and user support. Unlike a traditional SaaS model, the Managed Cloud Service allows the software to be operated in a custom-configured private cloud, managed by knk to meet individual client requirements.
