knk Software has joined the Book Industry Study Group (BISG). The company plans to play an active role in BISG’s Supply Chain Committee and the Commerce Standards & Optimization Working Group. BISG is the second US publishing association knk has joined, after becoming an Affiliate Member of the Association of American Publishers (AAP) in 2015.
“Based on our ongoing communications with our customers and prospects at a detail level, we are able to continuously integrate new trends and requirements coming directly from the industry into our software, knkPublishing. This makes our commitment to BISG and its Supply Chain Committee a natural fit for both organizations”, says Knut Nicholas Krause, President and CEO of the knk companies.
The Book Industry Study Group works to increase the efficiency of book manufacturing and distribution processes. Its Supply Chain Committee investigates issues and formulates new approaches or enhances existing approaches to identified supply-chain challenges, calling on industry experts from all over the world. BISG’s work improves the communication of book product data and specifications across the supply chain. This provides benefits in at least three ways:
- Developing more accurate forecasting tools
- Helping publishers and retailers coordinate and comply with best practices.
- Documenting trends that helps publishers, retailers and manufacturers better plan products
knk develops and markets knkPublishing – the only Microsoft certified publishing software in the world. knk is a member of the Association of American Publishers (AAP), FIPP (the global association of periodical media), many other international media specific groups and associations and a Microsoft-certified Partner (with five gold certifications: Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Application Development, Intelligent Systems, Business Intelligence (BI) and Data Platform (SQL)). knkPublishing is used by about 150 publishers in North America, Europe and Asia and based on the latest web- and BI-technology.
