End of last week the Book Industry Study Group (BISG) presented its 2019 Service Awards at the Annual Committee Town Hall held in Manhattan.  These honors recognize volunteers who’ve demonstrated exceptional dedication in advancing the work of committees.

David Hetherington (knk Business Software), who also serves as Secretary of the BISG Board of Directors, received the Community Builder Award, which recognizes a volunteer who has worked to create a productive and diverse community in committees, working groups, or the BISG membership as a whole. In presenting the award, Brian O’Leary, Executive Director of BISG said, “David is always thinking about programming that would benefit the industry, volunteering ideas, time, participation, and sponsorship throughout. If you aren’t currently part of the organization, chances are pretty good that he has written you more than once to come to an event, listen in on a committee call, and join the conversation.  He has been a tireless advocate for membership in BISG.”

In advance of the awards ceremony, O’Leary said, “The book industry moves forward through the collective actions of people working across the supply chain. Many noteworthy initiatives have been seeded and developed by BISG committee volunteers. They think entrepreneurially and know how to execute. Putting the spotlight on a few unsung heroes of the supply chain, who truly deserve it, is something I’m proud to do.”
